my cat coughs and has a knot on her hip

i have a simese cat she is 1 and a half years old. she's been spayed and up to date on all her shots which she got done in may. she's had a cough for about six months. last night i noticed a quarter sized knot on her hip. i don't know if it hurt her when i touched it cause she always nips at me when i pet her. she's my husband baby. i found her as a stray about a year and a half ago. i asked the vet about her cough when i took her to get spayed and he said it was probably nothing cause her lungs sounded clear. what could it be. i also have a kitten that is 3 months old they play all the time. my older cat is walking and doing fine. i just don't know what the lump could be??

My advice is not to wonder anymore but to take her back to the vets and get him to take a look. if the lump wans not there when you took her last time then this is something he needs to see and investigate further. whether or not the cough is associated with it or not i do not know, but it definitely needs to be looked into further. the sooner she can be seen and diagnosed the better and easier it will be to treat.
