my cat has gone off her food

she had 4 kittens 3 and a half weeks ago only 3 survived and yesterday she started to go off her food and it has continued on today she still seems alert and ok with the kittens and still goes too feed them and wash them and they are certainly healthy and active its just that she doesnt meow for her food or fuss for her food like she normally does could it be to do with the heat as the temperature is very hot here at the moment please could you give me some advice it would be truly appretiated thankyou kara

well yes it could well be that the heat is making her less hungry. i know my appetite goes down when its hot.

cats can also suffer from viruses like we do where we feel under the weather for a few days. Your cat may be feeling slightly unwell.

My advice would be to keep an eye on her and if her symptoms worsen or if they go on for more than 3 or 4 days then i would take her to the vets to be on the safe side.

it can be quite exhausting and wearing on the body bringing up kittens. Make sure you are feeding her top quality food, in fact there is even food available for nursing queens as they need extra nutrition at this time.
