My cat is dooling a brownish discharge coming from her mouth

My cat has been drooling heavily for several days. I just realized that the drool is a brownish color. She is 17 years old. She is still eating and drinking. I've tried stroking her on both sides of her cheek and her chin and she doesn't seem sensitive to my touching her.

Hi
It sounds to me that her drool is brown because it probably contains some blood.

At 17 it is quite possible that she may have a bad tooth or an abscess. Cats are very good at covering up pain etc but the drooling definitely suggests that something is wrong and needs urgent investigation by the vet.

Hope she is better soon

Katy not quite 17 but same symptoms. Taking her tomorrow to get help from local vet. sShe's being twice before and proved a problem in getting her claws clipped. Just read about isofluorine as being safer to put them "under". Hope they have it if it's safer for older cats.
Thanks for advise as to discharge.

This was very helpful and I think other worried pet owners would find it helpful as well
