my cat is hiding under the bed

My female 9 year old cat was sick with a URI took her to the vet they sent her home with meds. It was a struggle to give her the meds but they went down. She is a very loving cat that always wants attention. However now that we have been pulling her out from under the bed and popping a pill down her throat she will not come out from under the bed. She acts like she is afraid that we are going to give her medicine. I can pet her under the bed and pull her out and she purrs. She is eating and drinking and using the litterbox. However she spends the entire time we are home under the bed scared to death. Is this something she will get over or is this something I need to worry about??

hi
well i think is probably due to two things.

firstly she may not be feeling to well in herself and this can often make a cat withdraw.

Secondly she may also be a little afraid of you as she may find receiving the pill a bot traumatic. perhaps give her the pill right after she has eaten that way you won't have to pull her out from under the bed and wit will be a little less traumatic.

I would not worry too much at this stage, once the medicine kicks in and she is feeling better in herself i'm sure she will return to her old self. Just give her a little time and space.

best wishes Kate
