My cat is purring very oddly.
by Giaa
I'm not sure what's with her, she's purring a lot, without being pet or anything. She's purring like a motor, and often she lifts her head up and meows, I went over to her and her throat seems tight, and when I tried to touch her throat she backed away.
I've had my cat since I was in 2nd grade, I am now 13.
Is it because she is old? Is she sick?

hi well it could be because she is sick that is always a possibility. purring is not just a sign of being content it can also be a sign of distress or pain . The cat purrs to try and calm themselves down etc.
i always say that if you have any doubts or worries then I would always take her to the vets for a check up just to be on the safe side.
best wishes and i hope all is well
