my cat is suddenly scared of a freind

Our cat is female and is 3 years old. She was abandoned as a kitten and taken in by a neighbour where then we collected her from. We have had her for nearly a year. She was fine with one of our male friends but it has been noticed lately that she is scared of him. He goes to fuss her and she will meow. She is fine with my other half and our other male friend what could be causing this and what is happening?

Hi it may be a simple case of change of aftershave or deodorant on your friends part. Some strong odors can be very upsetting for some cats. In fact the only time my old cat tried to bite me was when i had just put on some new perfume.

The other option is that he may be giving off vibes ie if he feels nervous around her she will sense this and this will make her scared also.

You could tell your friend to not wear any strong smelling aftershaves etc and to my bonding with the cat on his terms. Please see my page about how best to go about this. here
