My Cat just had kittens and she is VERY SKINNY

My cat Lily at 6 months old got pregnant. Through her pregnancy she did great. On June 20th she had 5 kittens. About a week after she had the kittens I started noticing how skinny she was. Her bones stick out! She is still very happy and active. Nurses her kittens well and takes very good care of them. She eats 2 cans of wet food a day and a bowl of dry food. I dont see any fleas on her.. but she seems WAY skinnier than what she was before she got pregnant. So is it normal for a calico kitty that has kitties to get extremely skinny? what can I do to help her? Thank you!

Hi yes this is common as basically all her energy is going into producing the rich milk for her kittens. It is important that nursing queens get extra nutrition to help them through this time. There is special cat food which is formulated for this period in their lives. Please see my page here which has some information about one of these products
