My cat looks drunk

My 3 year old male neutered cat is sick. The only real way i can describe the way he looks is that he looks drunk. He is usually very active. He has been lethargic, acts like he wants to drink water but only smells it. He will put his paw in it like he wants to drink it but won't. He is salivating and has stopped grooming himself. Any ideas?

Hi no sorry the symptoms you describe could be caused by many different things and only an examination will be able to identify the problem.

Dehydration can be extremely dangerous and could be causing him to appear drunk and disorientated. He does sound like he needs to see a vet as soon as possible.

It does sound rather distressing for your cat but hopefully a vet will be able to diagnose the problem and treat him successfully so that he will be back to his old self soon

best wishes Kate
