my cat plays with her poop

i was wondering why at night my cat takes her balls of poop out of her litter box and rolls them on the floor playing with it like a ball and then knocks them under the refrigerator.she has toys to play with.we leave her access to the kitchen and bathroom while we sleep because if we left her in our room she would run all around and make a bunch of noise.

this is unusual. All I can think is because obviously the poop smells strongly of her she has a connection with it and so is drawn to play with it.

All I can suggest is firstly make sure that her litter tray is clean before you go to bed and also to provide her with perhaps some catnip balls to play with and leave them in the kitten as well near her litter tray, so perhaps she will chose them instead if she does go in the night.
