my cat prefers my boyfriend now

My cat is 7 years old and has always enjoyed a cuddle with me but recently my partner has moved in and she never seems to give me a second look, giving all her attention to him. Is she jealous?

Answer

No just fickle i would say. Jealousy is not really an emotion that cats have but they do have their favorites and so she may have just decided that she is more interested in this new arrival to the home. Also I have owned both male and female cats and in my experience female cats seem to always prefer my male partners, don't know why.

Just keep giving her the food and the tickles and the treats and she will share some of her time with you too.
