My older cat eats younger cats food

My older cat who is 14 years old went under surgery not long ago and had her top teeth removed, now she cannot eat hard food anymore because she just swallows it and barfs it back up,
My younger cat who is 1 eats the hard food, and we try and hide it from my older cat but she always goes over and eats it when were not looking, then she keeps barfing. Sometimes the barf will be digested somewhat, and sometimes its still all whole as if she ate it then barfed it up a few seconds later.
My question is, is this really serious? Should i get my older cat checked out? Or try and hide my younger cats food, thanks

well its not pleasant for your cat to keep being sicj and it could cause stomach problems due to the acid in the vomit. So ideally it is best to say that the hard food should be kept away from your older cat so that they don't get the chance to eat it.
cats will eat anything they can get there paws on so i don't think it is unusual for your catto eat the hard food, so i wouldn't worry about that and as you say if they can't vhew then it will make them sick.
So the best soluition is just to make sure your older cat doesn't have access to the hard food. :)
