Newly Adopted Cat

We haven't been cat owners for quite some time, so a few questions. We just adopted a cat from a rescue, he is around 13 months old neutered and has had his shots. Since introducing him to our home three days ago he has not eaten very much food. He has peed and pooped once a day each day (except for today so far).

He meows and is generally very friendly. Sometimes he spends a lot of time under our bed though.
Should I worry? How long until he adjusts to his new surroundings? How many times a day does a one year old cat go to the bathroom?
Thanks for your help
Nicole

Hi Nicole
Don't worry everything sounds normal to me. Some cats can take a few days to a few weeks to adjust to their new home. Give him his own space and he will soon come around. You could try some bonding techniques described here on my page

The pooping issue will also sort itself out, there is no set amount that a cat should go, they will regulate themselves. This can be disrupted when they move home and food etc. Don't woory I;m sure he will be fine soon.

best wishes Kate
