older cat licking its private for 5+ minutes

Hi, my 17 year old male cat was laying on my bed, and i notced he was licking his rear for quite a while. I thought he was just cleaning himself back there, but then i picked him up to put him else where while he did that, turned out he was licking his private actually for the whole 5 mintues, and when i looked, clear liquid was comming out of his private, i know it wasnt his own silava, cause it got on my blanket as well, and smelled funny. I was just wondering what it could be, and if its bad or not. Thank you:)

Hi it sounds to me like he may have either an infection back there or his anal glands may be blocked or causing irritation.

he really does need to see a vet for a proper diagnosis and medication.
