older cat losing weight
I have an 11 year old male, neutered kitty who cries alot after eating and sometimes throws up and sometimes not. He's losing weight and seems to be asking for food a lot but then won't eat much at all. What should I do and what might be wrong with him?
Thanks,
Suzan

well the very first thing you need to do is to take him to a vet as soon as possible. there are several different illnesses which could cause this. I will name a few but it could be any number of other things and the vet will be best placed to be able to test for them.
things like a heart problem, diabetes or a thyroid condition can all cause these sorts of symptoms especially in an older cat. don't worry though, vets are much more able to treat for these conditions now and my old cat who dies last year at the age of 17 had thyroid trouble and a heart murmur which she had been successfully treated for for many years and when she died (because of a broken leg) she was leading a happy life up until then.
best wishes and i hope your cat is better soon
Kate
