My thriteen year old cat sometime poopes on the floor at night and than schoots across the floor. help karen

My 12 year old cat has had a drastic weight loss and is skin and bones. Appetite is not good. She refuses her treats and eats very little dry food. Tried wet food to no success. Bringing up 4-6 inch size furballs daily. Has very mushy stools outside the litter box. Vet thinks she has an intestinal problem and only told us to add wet food to her diet. No luck. Is it time to put her down
