PLEASE HELP MY KITTEN
by JIM
(GLASGOW)
MY CAT GAVE BIRTH AT 4.10am ON THE 11.07.08 TO ONE KITTEN, AT 4.55 A SECOND KITTEN FOLLOWED. THE MOTHER TOOK CARE OF THE PLACENTA AND CLEANED THE FIRST ONE BUT AS SOON AS SHE HAD TAKEN CARE OF THE SECOND PLACENTA SHE IMMEDIATELY DISCARDED AND PUSHED AWAY THE SECOND KITTEN. I FEAR THE SECOND WEE KITTEN MIGHT NOT SURVIVE, IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO FOR IT?

I am not an expert on this as i have never had to look after a new born kitten myself. All i can suggest is that it needs to be kept warm and i think it has to feed quite quickly. Howvever i would watch the situation and see how the realtionship developes if the mother won't let him feed or appear to act negativily towards him then you may have to become the mother and that involves keeping warm, feeding every two hours with special cat/kitten milk. If this happens i would take it to the vet for a check up and some advice in its care.
