hi there, all of a sudden my cat has become scared of something as when he is asleep for instance and you walk past him he jumps, even when he is awake he jumps if he hears the front door open, is he deaf or something, he comes when he is called, but he has only just stared this.

a few weeks ago his brother was killed on the road, he seems to have bad dreams and then wakes up in shock, he wasnt around when his brother was killed though.

sometimes he doesnt want to eat, and he is skinny but not underweight or anything is he okay?

thanks

stevie

Answer from Kate
Hi
Contrary to popular belief cats do go through a period of grief after the loss of another pet.

His behavior sounds like he is definitely anxious and this could definitely be caused by the death of his brother.

I have a web page about this issue which you may find of further interest and help

Im sorry about your cats brother....my baby maxxx he lost his brother that would be older then him right now, then we had his sister maxcine and she was here when he was, we painfully had to let her go. She was very little so the vet couldnt give her any shots so we had to leave her there, maxxx wasnt doing any thing after that he just sat there where him and his sister would play. He cried through the night and every thing for 5 weeks, then we took him to the vet and he said that nothing was wrong with him he was just sad, so me and my sister decided to get maxx's cousin mobe nd we did and now there happy.....
