Sexual like behavior in neutered cat

I adopted a rescue Siamese kitten at about the age of 6 - 7 weeks. Mother was feral and had been trapped. Chester had ear mites and ringworms. Through much time and patience, he has become a funny part of our family because he is so different. I am the one he follows, sits on the bath tub next to me, bites me on the rear when I'm bent over, sleeps on my legs or on the pillow next to my head on the couch. He was neutered at the appropriate time. He is now 16 months old and has started to act like he is trying to have sex with my arm or shoulder. He is almost frantic with digging motions, squatting on my arm with his rear quivering and thrusting. This has occured about 5 times in the last few weeks. I had him to the vet and he is on antibiotics for a UTI. He is voiding. Once I thought I felt a very small damp spot. This behavior occurs for about 1 - 2 minutes. I'm at a loss as to how to correct this. Any advice is

appreciated.

Hi
i have seen this before in neutered males. It has two possible causes, one it is instinct kicking in , a sort of memory of mating and especially at this time of the year when he may smell other cats around that this instinct kicks in. the other possibility is that it is a hormone imbalance which has triggered this behavior.

Unfortunately if it is only instinct then there is not a lot you can do apart from removing yourself from the room as soon as he starts the behavior. It should continue for long periods of time and may only happen occasionally.

If its hormonal then the vet may be able to prescribe some medication to re balance his system. However I would say that it is more likely to be instinct rather than anything else.

My boyfriend had a cat that would do this from time to time through out his life. It did not cause much problem as long as you leave the room straight away.

best wishes Kate
