Sore spot and missing hair on my cat
by Amanda
One of my cats has a patch of missing hair on his right side, right below his spine and by his hip socket. The area is tender when I apply pressure to it. However, he is able to function ( run, play, srcatch, lick and lay on his right side without it bothering him. I have a feeling it may have happened when he got outside for about 30-45 mins ( he is an inside cat) and either got hit or into a fight. It's not bleeding or seeping for there is no open wound. He's only 2 years old, so I don't believe the hair loss is caused by age.
Should I take him to a vet? Or is there a cat safe remedy I can use to relieve the pain and aid hair regrowth?

well it could be from a bump or fight and there be a bruise which is causing the pain but I wouldn't have expected fur loss unless it was pulled out by the cat himself in an attempt to relive the discomfort.
it is very difficult to diagnose what is causing fur loss as there are many causes of this. see here for more on this

I would say keep an eye on it for a few more days to see if the pain eases up and if the fur starts to grow back. if you feel that it is getting no better then yes I would take them to the vets in case there is an allergy causing this or perhaps even some internal reason.
i do hope all is well
