by ROSEMARY ANDERSON

MY CAT HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED OVER NIGHT. HE WONT LET ME TOUCH HIM AND HE HAS BEEN HIDING ALL DAY AND NOT EATING. AFTER FORCING HIM OUT HE RAN TO ANOTHER PLACE TO HIDE. IS HE SICK I'M THINKING HE MIGHT BITE ME IF I TRY TO GET HIM

Hi
Any change in behaviour by a cat always needs to be taken notice of. As this is the only way we can tell if something has happened to the cat or if ill health may be present.
the fact that he is not eating etc does suggest that he is feeling unwell and so you could either wait another day to see if he recovers (sometimes cats can get 24 hour viruses just like us) or you could take him to the vets now. It all really depends if you think he may have been injured or eaten something bad outside, if he goes outside. Or if his condition worsens.
i always say that as the owner you are best placed to say whether or not you feel that your cats behaviour has changed to such an extent that you feel he may be in pain or not etc. or if you think some external substance or issue may be involved (i.e hit by a car etc)
Hopefully he is just feeling under the weather and wants to be left alone for a day or so and will be back to his normal self again soon.
best wishes Kate
