Want cat but where it will stay

I'm planning on getting a cat, but my parents said I have to keep it outside or only in my room. I don't want to keep the cat outside, as there are many dangers and risks. Is it Ok if my cat/kitten stays only in 1 room but i take her out of the room under my supervision? Will she be stressed or bored in 1 room or will she have agressive behaviour?

Personally I think it would be really unfair to keep a cat in only one room for long periods of time. cats need lots of exercise and things to do to keep them happy, like the ability to climb, explore, play hunt etc and in one room that will be difficult.
i live in the UK and here most people let there cats outside when they want to go out. I don't know how different the situation is in Australia. I would imagine that if it is too dangerous outside for a domestic cat then most cat owners who live there probably allow there cats full roam of there home.
if your parents are not happy with this, then i would say wait until you are old enough to have your own place where you can make all the decisions you like. You will be happier knowing your cat is leading a full and contented life and of course your cat will be happier.
Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear but at the end of the day, it is all about the happiness of the cat that matters.
