Weird Noises after my cat eats.

My cat is around 14 yrs of age, he has an over active thyroid and is on a low dose of meds for it. He is a picky eater so I mix dry food with wet food. He has not problem eating his food, but its after he is down. He will make weird loud noises and lick at his lips and teeth and constantly paw at his mouth, it only lasts for a few minutes and then he stops. Any ideas??? He is all updated with shots and what not and sees a cat dr regularly.

thanks in advance

Hi
often licking of lip and pawing at the mouth can be a sign that the cat feels sick and wants to vomit.

he may well be eating his food too quickly and gulping it down. My cat was like this and she too had a thyroid problem. We had to give her smaller meals so that she was not able to eat so much at one sitting.

The fact that it only happens after he is eats does indicate that this may be the case.

it may be worth telephoning your vet and speaking to them about this. It may well be that the meds could be causing his stomach some problems.

best wishes kate
