why do cats run around excited after they poop

My cat gets really excited after he poops. He runs around and is really playful. WHy

The quick and simple answer to this is "who knows?"

I think i have known every cat in my life to do this, i don't know if it is because they are slightly spooked by the litter tray or they feel like they have done something slightly naughty or whether they just feel better after going. But they all seem to feel the need to run around afterwards, especially kittens i find.

lets just put it down to one of those catty quirks of their :)
