worried about my kittens and my male cat

i took a female cat in a few months ago and she ended up being pregnant i already had a male cat who is 5 years old they do not like each other she had 5 kittens who are now 6 weeks old my male cat keeps on licking their bums and biting their stomach what is he doing and will he kill them?

no it sounds to me like he is just exploring them and perhaps being a little paternal towards them.

the biting is play and is normal behavior.

there is a myth about male cats killing kittens but sometimes there are accidents so do keep an eye on them all.

you will also have to have the female cat spayed when she has weaned the kittens at around 12 weeks to prevent further kittens and also her giving off scents which even if your male cat is neutered can still drive him a little crazy, if you know what I mean.
